Racism. It Stops With Me.

Curtin University is committed to supporting the Racism. It Stops with Me (RISWM) Campaign. RISWM is part of the Australian Human Rights Commission National Anti-Racism Strategy aimed at eliminating racism.

The objectives of the Campaign are to:

  1. Ensure more people in Australia recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community.
  2. Give more people in Australia the tools and resources to take practical action against racism.
  3. Empower individuals and organisations to prevent and respond effectively to racism.

Curtin University has a long standing commitment to equity and diversity and this is strongly represented in our values and signature behaviours. Curtin is committed to leading by example in matters of anti-racism and works to embed ethical principles and social justice throughout all aspects of the University.

Over the next three years Curtin will be working to:

  • Increase awareness of different obvious and less obvious forms of racism
  • Develop and share anti-racism resources for staff and students
  • Develop and deliver best practice in cross cultural awareness
  • Promote existing on-campus support services and identify service gaps

The University takes all reasonable steps to ensure that students and staff are able to study and work in an environment free from discrimination and harassment.  If any member of the Curtin community feels they have experienced issues of racism, we encourage you to contact a University support service through Ethics, Equity & Social Justice or University Counselling Services.
